ā¢ How a community in Maine is fighting to save their birthing center (wlrn.org) ā A Bristol couple expecting their first child in January 2027 is among many local families worried that Damariscottaās Miles Hospital may close its labor and delivery unit this December. A fast-growing grassroots coalition is pressing MaineHealth to keep the birthing center open, arguing that longer winter drives to distant hospitals could endanger mothers and babies across the midcoast region.
