Lt. Roger Smith, a nine-year department veteran, is now the full-time chief and plans to maintain Bell’s community-focused approach while increasing proactive visibility on local roads and in neighborhoods. 
• Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Shooting Man 13 Times in Maine (q961.com) — A man from Clinton has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for fatally shooting a Fairfield resident 13 times in Waterville in 2024. Court records say he had stalked the victim for years and also admitted to separate assaults, making this a high-profile case with ties back to the Clinton community.
