• Maine Island Brush Fire On Green Lake Brings Crews From Multiple Towns (z1073.com) — Ellsworth firefighters led the response to a fast-moving brush fire on an island in Green Lake, using a borrowed rescue boat from Lamoine to reach the flames. Crews from Ellsworth, Lamoine, and Mariaville contained the fire before it damaged structures or hurt anyone, fully dousing hot spots by early evening while state and federal fire specialists assisted.
   

• Arrest made in road rage crash in Franklin (newportdispatch.com) — A serious road rage crash in nearby Franklin left a motorcyclist badly injured, and Ellsworth police helped reconstruct what happened on Blackwoods Road. Deputies say a pickup driver allegedly rammed the motorcycle into a guardrail, then fled before being arrested on multiple felony charges. The victim remains in stable but serious condition as the investigation continues.
   

• Maine woman's lawsuit alleging a wrongly removed bladder goes to trial (bangordailynews.com) — Ellsworth residents are part of a growing wave of large medical malpractice verdicts, including a recent $750,000 award by an Ellsworth jury to a woman injured at Maine Coast Hospital. Now, another Northern Light case heads to trial, after several multimillion-dollar verdicts around Maine raised questions about how malpractice claims are handled behind closed doors.
