• House fire shuts down Christian Ridge Road in Ellsworth (bangordailynews.com) — Christian Ridge Road in Ellsworth is partially closed this afternoon as multiple fire departments battle a serious house fire near Bucksport Road, sending thick smoke across the area. Firetrucks and ambulances from Ellsworth and nearby towns are on scene, and a stretch of the road between Red Bridge Road and Higgins Way is fully shut while crews work.
   

• Maine turns October into a festival season of pumpkin boats, coastal food and peak foliage (travelprnews.com) — Ellsworth will host the Downeast Cider + Cheese Festival on November 13–14, with tastings and programs spread across downtown and Woodlawn.
