• CMP: This Maine summer was second hottest on record—that's why it needs to increase rates, fortify grid (newscentermaine.com) — Ogunquit residents were among 3,400 who lost power July 3 when CMP proactively shut off electricity to protect an overloaded substation, then brought in a mobile unit to stabilize the grid. Now the utility is asking state regulators to approve a rate hike that would add about $18 a month to the average bill, arguing hotter summers demand stronger infrastructure.
