• Ogunquit business owner shaves head to raise money for kids with cancer (newscentermaine.com) — An Ogunquit restaurant owner just shaved his head to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Maine children battling cancer, and he's hoping this year's effort tops $300,000. Rick Dolliver of That Place in Ogunquit hosted a head-shaving fundraiser and silent auction Tuesday night, drawing support from family, friends, and customers who joined in to help the Maine Children's Cancer Program.
   

• New musical 'Small Town,' based on the music of John Mellencamp, prepares to open at Ogunquit Playhouse (bostonglobe.com) — Ogunquit Playhouse is about to launch "Small Town," a new John Mellencamp musical running Oct. 1–Nov. 1, giving locals a chance to see its world-premiere staging close to home. The show weaves 30 Mellencamp songs into a Romeo-and-Juliet-style story set in a struggling farm community, with members of Mellencamp's own band performing live onstage.
   

• John Mellencamp releases 50th anniversary lyric book (themusicuniverse.com) — John Mellencamp has released a 50-year lyric retrospective, and his busy year also includes the world premiere of his new musical "Small Town" at Ogunquit Playhouse on October 1. For Ogunquit residents, that means a major new production from a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is debuting right in town, following his recent nationwide tour.
