Man accused of Portland stabbing death claims self-defense (newscentermaine.com) — A Portland man accused in the fatal August stabbing on the Back Cove trail near Tukey's Bridge has pleaded not guilty, with his attorney arguing he acted in self-defense. During Wednesday's court hearing, lawyers scrutinized witness video and police evidence, while the judge delayed a decision on whether the 58-year-old defendant will be granted bail.
   

2. 'They're true heroes': LifeFlight crews and former patients reunite (newscentermaine.com) — LifeFlight of Maine crews and former patients gathered in Portland to reconnect and thank the medical flight teams who have transported more than 40,000 critically ill or injured Mainers. Families shared powerful survival stories, including a Rockwood patient flown to Portland, while organizers highlighted how the nonprofit's Bangor, Lewiston, and Sanford bases speed patients to Portland and other hospitals statewide.
