1. 19-year-old killed, two others severely injured in Warren crash, officials say (wmtw.com) — A fatal crash at Route 90 and Western Road in Warren on Sunday killed a 19-year-old Connecticut man and left two others severely injured, including a Whitefield woman. Knox County officials, with help from Rockland Police and other Midcoast agencies, are reconstructing the collision and asking for patience as they verify what happened.

2. Amid surge, boaters encouraged to share whale sightings, safely (coa.edu) — Rockland marks the southern edge of a key marine mammal response zone where College of the Atlantic’s Allied Whale team is asking boaters to report humpback sightings while keeping safe, legal distances. With whales feeding close to Maine’s coast, boaters are urged to photograph tail flukes, follow strict federal viewing rules, and call the Allied Whale hotline about any injured animals.

3. Historic Windjammer Fleet (maine.gov) — Rockland Harbor is one of the home ports for Maine’s historic windjammer fleet, which returns each summer to race, cruise Penobscot Bay, and keep wooden sailing traditions alive. These individually owned schooners, some National Historic Landmarks, offer passengers hands-on sailing, stories from seasoned captains, and a close-up connection to the region’s maritime heritage rooted in nearby Camden and Rockland.

Passenger removed from schooner 'Heritage' in North Haven harbor (penbaypilot.com) — Law enforcement removed a 77-year-old passenger from the schooner Heritage in North Haven’s Pulpit Harbor after reports of suicidal and homicidal statements and a secured firearm, then took him to a hospital for evaluation. The vessel continued on to Rockland, where passengers were to be interviewed, as Knox County officials pursue Maine’s Yellow Flag process and continue investigating.
