• How to participate in NEWS CENTER Maine's blood drive this month (newscentermaine.com) — Rockland residents can donate blood at the Rockland American Legion on Limerock Street on Thursday, April 30, from noon to 5 p.m. This statewide Red Cross drive aims to keep Maine’s blood supply strong, with all blood types—especially O positive and O negative—urgently needed. Expect a brief health screening and about 75 minutes total for your visit.
   

• Maine Islands Could Be Offshore Labs Solving for a Statewide Crisis (islandinstitute.org) — Rockland’s own Island Institute is emerging as a key player in tackling Maine’s worsening affordable housing crisis, especially on the islands. By testing housing solutions in small coastal communities, the Rockland nonprofit hopes to create models that can be scaled up statewide, protecting schools, local businesses, and year-round residents from being priced out.
