• South Portland no longer considering adding another Flock camera (wgme.com) — South Portland officials have dropped plans to fund an additional Flock license-plate camera after residents raised surveillance and data privacy concerns, including worries about immigration enforcement. Seven cameras already in place will keep operating through June 2027, while the city council holds more public discussions before deciding next year whether to renew or change the contract.
   

• UMF holds festive Commencement ceremony to celebrate the Class of 2026 (dailybulldog.com) — Several South Portland students are among the University of Maine at Farmington’s Class of 2026, earning degrees in fields from art and design to education and public health. The festive Farmington ceremony featured a public health leader as keynote speaker and highlighted how graduates from across Maine, including South Portland, are preparing for careers in teaching, counseling, and community health.
   

• Class A boys lacrosse is a deeper, more competitive mix​ (pressherald.com) — South Portland’s boys lacrosse team is once again a serious Class A contender, having already beaten both Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth this season. Coaches around Maine say the Class A field is deeper and more competitive, with traditional powers like South Portland, Scarborough, Falmouth, Thornton Academy, and newly elevated Yarmouth all battling for playoff seeding.
