Two care providers to lose MaineCare billing privileges next month (wgme.com) — If you or a loved one use Quality Care Access in South Portland, be aware the state has denied its license and will end its MaineCare billing privileges after an extension to October 13. DHHS says the extra time is meant to help members transition to new, licensed home and community support providers after citing serious care deficiencies.
   

2. High schools Friday: Massabesic field hockey earns OT victory (pressherald.com) — South Portland/Westbrook’s field hockey co-op dropped a tight 4–3 overtime heartbreaker to Massabesic, despite two goals from Lucy Phillips and another from Maggie Berry. Local fans also saw Old Orchard Beach top North Yarmouth Academy 3–1, with Lexi Sweeney and Emmaline Ellison leading the Seagulls’ balanced attack.
   

3. Third shots fired investigation in two days underway in Lewiston (wgme.com) — A string of recent shootings in Lewiston has led to charges against two teens, including a 13-year-old accused of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Both juveniles were transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland, highlighting the role of the local facility in handling serious youth offenses from around the state.
   

4. Obituary: Gloria Jean Lathrop (pressherald.com) — South Portland readers are remembering Gloria Jean Lathrop, who spent much of her adult life raising her family in the city and later in Cumberland Foreside. A devoted nurse, church volunteer, and community helper, she balanced service with a love of tennis, travel, and time with her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be announced later.
