Wells voters approve mobile home lot rent stabilization, data center moratorium (pressherald.com) — Wells voters just approved major changes that will shape daily life, including stabilizing mobile home lot rent increases and imposing a 180‑day moratorium on data center development. Residents also backed funding 14 full‑time EMS positions after the local service dissolved, authorized bonds to renovate the Log Cabin Lane fire station, and okayed relocating a drainage easement.
   

2. Maine towns vote overwhelmingly to restrict data center growth (newscentermaine.com) — Wells residents decisively backed a 180‑day moratorium on large data centers, voting 5,818 to 1,282 to pause projects over 100,000 square feet. The temporary halt, retroactive to June 16, lets town officials study potential impacts on infrastructure, electricity use, and neighborhoods as other Maine communities also tighten rules on data center growth.
   

3. York County likely to reelect King sheriff, Mills treasurer (pressherald.com) — York County voters appear set to reelect Sheriff William King and keep the elected treasurer position, likely returning Bobby Mills to that role. For Wells residents, the big change is that former sheriff candidate Brian Pellerin has been hired as the town’s new police chief, bringing new leadership to local law enforcement as county politics settle.
   

4. Mobile home residents prevail in lot rent ordinance votes (themainemonitor.org) — Wells voters joined seven other Maine towns in approving new limits on how much mobile home park owners can raise lot rents, with a strong 5,594–1,494 vote. The change ties increases to inflation or a set cap, aiming to protect residents on fixed incomes amid rising housing costs statewide and growing concern over out‑of‑state park ownership.
