• Wells EMS Board agrees to pay $340,000 settlement after Medicare fraud allegations (wgme.com) — Wells officials have agreed to pay nearly $340,000 to settle federal Medicare overbilling allegations against Wells EMS, with the town covering $290,000 from surplus funds. At a special Select Board meeting, leaders explained that Wells EMS plans to cease operations, and the town is preparing to create a new Wells Rescue Department, pending voter approval, while current EMS crews continue serving residents for now.
