📰 News we're reading

• Varsity Maine high school football honor roll for Week 4 (centralmaine.com) — Yarmouth football fans have reason to cheer as quarterback Iggy McGrath set a school record with seven touchdown passes in a 60-8 win over previously unbeaten Ellsworth, earning a spot on the Varsity Maine honor roll. The roundup also highlights other standout performances from high school players across Maine, but McGrath's big night puts Yarmouth squarely in the spotlight.

• Cumberland approves $12,000 for preliminary Casco Bay Trail design (wmtw.com) — Cumberland has agreed to chip in $12,000 toward early design work on the Casco Bay Trail, a multi-community path that would connect Portland to Yarmouth along a former rail corridor. With Portland, Falmouth and Yarmouth already backing their shares, Cumberland's vote means all towns on this key segment are now participating in planning, though none are yet committed to construction costs.

• Obituary: Vesta (Vaughan) Rand (pressherald.com) — Longtime Yarmouth resident and devoted educator Vesta Vaughan Rand has died, with a private family graveside service planned at Riverside Cemetery in town. She grew up attending Yarmouth schools, later serving local organizations including the Yarmouth Historical Society, and is remembered for her dedication to family, community service, and a lifelong love of learning and travel.
