Where Do Great Futures Start?

Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club: Your 12 For 12 Keeps a Door Open For Our Children

Proud Aberdeen residents! I am asking you to take the challenge! What challenge?

Support the Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club. I have been an employee and now parent and volunteer (supporter) for over 15 years of my 25 year residency in Aberdeen.

On September 4, the Aberdeen Club will re-open for business since its closure over the summer months. This date is personally significant to me. My late mother Vivian Hendrieth Britten's birthday was on this date.

Almost two years ago, I hosted a birthday fundraiser in my mothers name on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

I am grateful to have another opportunity to challenge anyone who will take this challenge to support a home away from home for many youth ages six to eighteen years old who need this club!

How can you help?

$12 for 12 months or a one time annual gift of $144 dollars (or more), can help keep the doors open.

If you are not convinced that the 4,000 clubs across this great nation impact the lives of so many youth, try contacting alumni like Martin Sheen, Denzel Washington, Mario Lopez, Cuba Gooding Jr. and others.

The one other includes my father (long time Aberdeen resident and supporter). He was an alumni of the Boys Clubs in Washington D.C. At the age of 17, he became an Education Director in the clubs. At the age of 77, he is now a retired Army officer decorated with the Purple Heart from the Vietnam War.

Yes! No matter what anyone has to say, the clubs do make a difference for those kids who need it the most!

Please take this challenge and mail a donation today to: Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County/Aberdeen, MD 21001 or contact Tim Wills at 410-272-0010 for more information. Mention this blog on Patch.

Help OUR children to get over lifes hurdles. Help them TODAY.

Research the club history, mission and current programming intiatives. Volunteer one day a week to help a kid do their homework. Go and play a game of chess or checkers one day a month. Designate the club as your philanthropic mission. Do it for our children. Do it for yourself. Do it for OUR Aberdeen!

Leave a comment if you are in support of or are going to support the club with a monetary gift! If you are a business, post your business. Let everyone know that your business is about the business of Aberdeen's future leaders!

Thank you so much!
