UPDATE: Fire Spreads Between 2 Bedrooms at Days Inn

Aberdeen firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged two bedrooms at the Days Inn.

Aberdeen firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged two bedrooms at the , located on the 700 block of West Bel Air Avenue, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

The fire started in a corner bedroom, where one occupant had recently check out, on the ground floor. 

A lamp short circuited, creating a spark. The flame traveled through an electrical outlet. It reached an adjacent bedroom and lit a mattress on fire, said Deputy Fire Marshal Oliver J. Alkire.

There was an occupant paying for the hotel room where the mattress caught on fire, but was not present when the fire occurred.

No one was injured during the incident, and all other occupants are able to stay in their hotel room as of Wednesday morning.
