UPDATE: Police Investigating Teacher for Alleged Fraud

A Harford County Public Schools employee allegedly claimed to be diagnosed with cancer and obtained $10,000 from coworkers through fundraisers, according to police.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is investigating a Harford County Public Schools employee accused of fraudulently obtaining $10,000 from coworkers.

A victim reported the alleged fraud to the sheriff's office in mid-December, claiming that a coworker convinced four fellow coworkers to raise money for medical treatment associated with stage four cancer, according to Monica Worrell, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

The incident reportedly occurred on Baker Street, where is located, according to Worrell.

No charges or arrests have been made at this time.

A victim found pictures of the Bakerfield teacher, looking physically healthy and partying, on Facebook when police were notified, according to WMAR-TV.
