Help Bring Home the Bacon for Boys & Girls Clubs
Community events planned for annual Kiss a Pig Fundraiser

ABERDEEN, Md. (June 29, 2018) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties proudly announces its 2018 Kiss a Pig fundraiser, which since 1999 has raised more than $300,000 to support the young people of Harford County. Leading up to the crowning of this year’s “Most Valuable Puckerer” at the Maryland State Barbecue Bash on Friday, August 10, the community is invited to attend a variety of events with fun for the whole family to raise funds for and awareness of the organization’s programs and services:
Kiss a Pig Basket Bingo - Hosted by the Harford County Public Library (HCPL) Fundraising Team on Friday, June 29 from 7 - 9 p.m., this event will include 20 regular games of bingo, “special” bingo games, door prizes and exciting raffles. Food and adult beverages will be sold by the American Legion. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. For tickets, visit bgcharfordcecil.org/events.
Indoor Cycling Challenge & Happy Hour - Located at Off the Chain Cycling Studio (538 Baltimore Pike in Bel Air) and also hosted by Team HCPL, this event takes place on July 20 from 6:30-8:15 p.m. The event pits two riding teams against one another for a 45-minute ride; once the challenge is complete, adult beverages will be served to riders over 21 years of age. Catch a Pig 5K and 1K Bacon Stroll – It's not just a 5K race - it's a CHASE! Slated for Sunday, July 15 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., this family-friendly event partially funded by a grant from the Office of Community and Economic Development, will have the community “squealing” with delight as they help to raise money in support of Harford and Cecil County youth. The race is an out-and-back along the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail (Williams Street at Ellendale, Bel Air) in which young runners (a.k.a “piglets”) will have a head start on their fluffier counterparts (a.k.a “Big Bad Wolves”). Those who pass at least one piglet on their way to the finish line are entered in a special drawing to win prizes. Medals will be given to the top three male, female and piglet finishers. Registration for the event is $20 for piglets (ages 12 and under), which includes a free t-shirt, and $25 for adults. The event incorporates a 1K “Bacon Stroll” sponsored by Harford County Public Libraries. Registration is $25 which includes a free event t-shirt and “strolls” from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. New this year, dog owners are welcome to run/stroll with their furry friends for an additional $10. Kiss a Pig Bull Roast –Team APGFCU is hosting a bull roast on Saturday, July 21from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Fallston Volunteer Fire Company (2201 Carrs Mill Road). Tickets are $40 per person, or $350 for a table of 10. Tickets include smoked meats and sides, beer and wine, door prizes, 50/50 raffles, Chinese and silent auctions and more.
