MOMS & DADS TALK: Bullying

I recently read an interesting article on bullying in The New York Times' Style section written by Lisa Belkin. Belkin wrote a column based on an Australian video of a bullying victim who turned on his attacker and body-slammed him to the ground. 

She also highlighted a story reported in the Sydney Morning Herald of a father from Sydney, Australia, who was on his way home when he saw his son and daughter beating up another teen. Much to his children's surprise, he grabbed them both, put the victim in the car and took him home to his parents. And then, he took his own children to the police station and allowed them to be charged with assault. 

But that wasn't the end of their punishment. He took away his son's car and his daughter's horse, sold them both and gave the proceeds to the victim to teach his children a lesson not to bully.

Most people wouldn't go to that extreme to teach their children right from wrong. But this leads me to today's parenting issue.
