Obama Expected to OK $100 Million for APG

The National Defense Authorization Act designates more than $230 million in improvements for multiple military facilities in Maryland.

 

President Obama is expected to sign into law $101 million in improvements designated for  after Congress passed funding legislation.

The National Defense Authorization Act will designate a total of $230 million in improvements for military facilities at APG, Fort Meade, Dundalk and Martin State Airport.

“This bill pays for some of the most pressing needs at Maryland military facilities while acknowledging our responsibility to reduce government spending and reign in the federal deficit,” Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger, who represents APG and other military facilities, said in a press release.

The legislation also establishes funding for Maryland and other states to prepare for the traffic impacts of BRAC.

The “Hotels for Heroes” program is also included, which will allow Americans to donate hotel reward points and frequent flyer miles to members of the military.
