Nuclear Reactor, Natural Gas Power Plant To Be Built At APG (patch.com) — Aberdeen Proving Ground is slated to get a small nuclear reactor and natural gas power plant as part of the Army's Janus energy program, with power expected online by 2030. The privately built facilities will bolster backup power for critical missions while also feeding electricity into the regional grid, pending full environmental and regulatory reviews.
   

2. Liquor bottle to the neck: Jury convicts Abingdon man in Aberdeen bus stop attacks (foxbaltimore.com) — A Harford County jury convicted an Abingdon man of first- and second-degree assault for attacking two men at an Aberdeen bus stop on East Bel Air Avenue, including striking one victim in the neck with a liquor bottle. Aberdeen Police and county prosecutors investigated and tried the case, and the defendant is being held at the Harford County Detention Center awaiting sentencing.
   

3. More events canceled in Maryland as nor'easter brings heavy wind and rain (cbsnews.com) — Heavy wind and rain from a nor'easter forced the Maryland Italian Festival in Aberdeen to close early Saturday, cutting short local plans. The same storm canceled or disrupted major events in Annapolis and Ocean City, and officials warn residents to expect gusty winds, minor to moderate coastal flooding, and possible road closures and power outages through Sunday.
   

4. Hometown Heritage: County Elite Travel Team Concludes Successful Summer (greenescenemagazine.com) — Young players from Greene County Elite spent part of their standout 2026 season competing at the Ripken Experience in Aberdeen, where they won two of three games against teams from several states. Their successful summer also included multiple tournament championships and runner-up finishes across the region, culminating in a strong 28-12-1 overall record.
