Aberdeen Police Seek New Leads in Gas Station Robbery

Authorities are searching for a suspect driven to the station in vehicle similar to a champagne-colored Kia Sportage pictured in the flier.

Authorities made a call for help Thursday in generating new leads on the suspect who allegedly committed an armed robbery at the Shell gas station located at 1026 Middleton Lane last month.

Detective Will Reiber recirculated a flier created from gas station surveillance video that shows  the suspect apparently taking money from the cash register. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen at gunpoint during the April 7 robbery, police said.

"I am requesting some additional help in recirculating the flier to bring attention to the suspect," said Reiber. "Leads in the case have run dry."

Police said the vehicle used in the robbery was similar to a 2010 Kia Sportage pictured on the flier.

“The suspect was dropped off and picked up by an unknown individual,” the flier released by Lt. Fred Budnick states. “The vehicle was champagne in color.”

At approximately 1:30 p.m. a black male wearing black jeans, a black shirt, black cap and sunglasses entered the store and demanded money, police Spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick has said.

The suspect “displayed a handgun and announced a robbery,” Budnick has said.

“The handgun displayed appeared to be a black revolver,” the flier states.

Budnick said Thursday that the suspect fled on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of cash. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 unit from the Maryland State Police assisted. But the suspect escaped, police have said.

“No one was injured during the incident,” Budnick said.
