Public Hearing on Budget Scheduled for Tonight
Mayor Michael E. Bennett has said taxes would be decreased from $0.6875 per $100 of assessed value to $.68 per $100 of assessed value.

A public hearing will be held tonight during the City Council meeting to discuss the budget for fiscal year 2011-2012.
Public comment is limited to five minutes per person.
During his state of the city address on April 25, Mayor Michael E. Bennett introduced a new budget that included a salary increase for city employees and a nearly 1 cent decrease in property taxes in the budget year that begins July 1.

Bennett has said taxes would be decreased from nearly 69 cents per $100 of assessed value to 68 cents. The water use rate for FY 2012 has been set at a minimum of $14.50 for the first 3,500 gallons or less and $4.38 per each additional 1,000 gallons. The sanitary sewer use rate is a minimum charge of $17.02 for the first 3,500 gallons or less of metered water and $4.85 per each additional 1,000 gallons.
