APG Personnel Star in 'So You Think You've Got Talent'

Aberdeen Proving Ground hosts a spinoff of the reality TV concept on Thursday.

The hidden talents of Aberdeen's military will be in the spotlight Thursday evening.

Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is hosting its "So You Think You've Got Talent" competition, where active military and civilian personnel will compete for cash prizes in an event similar to reality shows like "So You Think You Can Dance" and "America's Got Talent."

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) is coordinating the competition as part of its outreach at the proving ground, according to APG News. BOSS is an organization within the Army dedicated to improving the quality of life for single soldiers and increasing retention.

Auditions for "So You Think You've Got Talent" were held in August, and on Thursday, contestants will compete in categories including dance, voice, comedy, rap, variety, instrumental, spoken word and other novelties.

The first-place winner will receive $300, second place gets $200 and third place receives $100. There are also prizes for the People's Choice Award and Most Talented Unit.

"So You Think You've Got Talent" begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, in the AA Recreation Center (Building 3326, Erie Street) at APG. Doors open at 5 p.m. The show is open to the public.
