Interfaith Works To Honor Community Leaders

Annual Breakfast to Honor Bethesda Magazine's Steve Hull, Home Depot of Bethesda and Jessica Hulsey Nickel and Family

Rockville, MD -- Interfaith Works 21st Caring Breakfast on Thursday, April 26, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, will shine the spotlight on Montgomery County leaders for their contributions to Interfaith Works and to the greater community. Interfaith Works is a leading social service agency in Montgomery County, working to help vulnerable residents lift themselves out of poverty and homelessness. The event attracts more than 300 leaders in the governmental, political, nonprofit and business communities each year. Emcee is award-winning journalist Armando Trull.

Interfaith Works will honor the following 2018 winners:

Jessica Hulsey Nickel and Family – Humanitarians of the Year

Jessica and her family are deeply committed to Interfaith Works, volunteering and supporting IW’s Family Services programs for two decades. Jessica was motivated to get involved with Interfaith Works as a way of giving back after receiving similar services during a difficult childhood.Their contributions include providing Thanksgiving food baskets, supporting the family mentoring program’s annual holiday party and introducing the Princeton Club of Washington to Interfaith Works, resulting in a lasting relationship. Jessica, who is the president of the Addiction Policy Forum, also served on the IW board for six years. Jessica and her family are residents of Potomac. Home Depot, Bethesda – Corporate Champion of the Year

Home Depot Bethesda is helping make dreams come true at Interfaith Works, in keeping with the company’s corporate values. Home Depot has been hard at work at the Interfaith Works Clothing Center, generously donating supplies, time and expertise to create a beautiful community garden, where neighbors in need will learn the power of planting seeds and nurturing them as they grow. Home Depot also has opened doors for clients served by IW’s Vocational Services program, hiring them for jobs that provide sustainable employment and a path out of poverty.

Steve Hull and Bethesda Magazine – Community Partner of the Year

Under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief and Publisher Steve Hull, Bethesda Magazine provides an important platform for telling the stories of Montgomery County residents who are experiencing poverty, while highlighting the successes of programs provided by Interfaith Works and other non-profits to address poverty and homelessness. The magazine encourages community support of non-profits through the annual “Guide To Giving” section. Steve has demonstrated his personal commitment to building a stronger county, bringing a team to volunteer at the IW Clothing Center and mentoring young professionals facing personal challenges.

Emcee: Armando Trull is a strategic communications consultant with Armando Media, providing public relations services to organizations working to make the world better. He is an Emmy award-winning journalist with decades of experience at prestigious news organizations, including WAMU/NPR, Telemundo, Univision, Huffington Post and Washington Post-El Tiempo Latino.

Interfaith Works, based in Rockville, Md., is one of Montgomery County’s leading social service organizations, with 45 years of service helping those in need. Interfaith Works helps almost 17,000 vulnerable Montgomery County neighbors each year, helping them lift themselves out of poverty and homelessness with prevention, stabilization and empowerment programs.
