Tropical Storm Isaias Causes Damage in Ocean City, Maryland

Tropical Storm downs power lines, damaged street signs, and causes beach erosion in Ocean City, Maryland.

Ocean City, Maryland

Tropical Storm Isaias didn't ruin Kelley Motts vacation "you can't do anything about it," the Pennsylvania native says, as she braved the high winds and sand to take a video of the ocean, "this is crazy, the sand hurts my face." Kelley is one of the millions along the East Coast dealing with high winds, power cuts, and Tropical Storm Isaias. The storm moved quickly across Ocean City, Maryland, early Tuesday morning. You could see the damage to street signs, palm trees, and downed power lines along the coastal highway. Delmarva Power crews and Ocean City police stood at the scene, making sure no one got close. Traffic backed up on side roads causing the Simpson family to miss breakfast. "We skipped breakfast because, with the power lines down, you can't drive on parts of the coastal highway." Uptown, at Sun and Surf Cinemas, Tropical Storm Isaias blow down the movie theatre sign. A worker cleaning up picked up the letters off the ground, saying, "these are valuable; they cost a lot." Tree branches and tree limbs scatter the side streets. In residential areas outside of Ocean City, homeowners in Ocean Pines and Bishopville show photos on Facebook of trees blocking driveways, branches in yards, and deck furniture tossed around. Nothing stopped a group of girlfriends from Baltimore going out to buy coffee and donuts this morning in Ocean City. The four were happy to pose for a photo as Tropical Storm Isaias continued up the mid-Atlantic coast. The storm is expected to head out to sea.
