A young Annapolis man won $250,000 on a scratch-off. The winning ticket, bought on West Street, provides "a nice jumpstart" on his life.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A young Annapolis man won $250,000 on a scratch-off, the Maryland Lottery announced Friday.
“This is a life-changing amount,” the anonymous victor said last week after claiming his prize at lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The Anne Arundel County resident in his mid-20s called the prize “a nice jumpstart” to his life.

The jackpot came on the $250,000 Cash Winfall scratch-off. He bought the $10 ticket at the Quick Mart of Annapolis, located at 900 West Street.
The victory didn't seem real until the winner, an employee of a public-facing business, was at lottery headquarters claiming his prize.

That surrealness meant he didn't have firm plans for what he'd do with the winnings.
“I’m going to try to better my life,” he said.
The winner has only shared the good news with a few relatives and a friend who accompanied him to claim the prize.
The casual but consistent lottery player will continue to play occasionally. He now believes winning is a possibility.
“It’s definitely real!” he said.
Quick Mart of Annapolis will get a $1,000 bonus from the lottery for selling the quarter-million-dollar winning scratch-off.
The $250,000 Cash Winfall game debuted in February and has one more top prize remaining. There are also three $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $1,000.
