3 Armed Annapolis Teens Charged After Apartment Standoff

An Annapolis apartment building was evacuated as police searched for two armed teens; three suspects were eventually arrested.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis apartment building was evacuated Thursday night as police searched for two armed teens; three suspects were eventually arrested, Annapolis Police said. Reports that two teens were armed with handguns and part of a group of people loitering in front of an apartment in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive sent officers to the building about 11:35 p.m.

When police approached the area, some of the group, including the two believed to be illegally carrying handguns, ran into an apartment. A woman who lived in the apartment fled; police then tried to make contact with the group, but they refused to leave the apartment. Officers were positioned outside the apartment and other residents of the building were evacuated until it was confirmed that no one else was inside the apartment, police said.

Three suspects then came out of the apartment and were taken into custody.
