In preparation for The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) Central Maryland Chapter’s 8th Annual 5KRUN/3K Walk, on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Westfield Annapolis Mall, local survivors will tie teal ribbons on trees surrounding the end of August. Most people are familiar with the pink ribbon. Our goal is to educate people about the teal cancer ribbon.
The Run/Walk event titled Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer® helps to raise awareness and promote education, honor ovarian and all gynecological cancer survivors, remember those who have lost their lives to the disease, and raise crucial funds for NOCC programs and research initiatives. Termed “the silent killer,” ovarian cancer continues to be the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. This year it is estimated that more than 22,000 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer, and over 14,000 will die.
