7-Eleven Robber Who Tried To Carjack Customer Is Arrested: Police

Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven in Glen Burnie and then tried to carjack a customer on New Year's Day.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven in Glen Burnie and then tried to carjack a customer on New Year's Day.

Samuel Edward Phillips, 32, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, theft less than $100, carjacking, and armed robbery, authorities said.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Anne Arundel Police responded to the 7-Eleven at 7179 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. for the report of a robbery.

An employee told police that the suspect entered the store and demanded money. Complying, the clerk opened the register and Phillips grabbed a small amount of money.

When he left the 7-Eleven, Phillips confronted a customer in the parking lot and threatened to shoot the individual if he wasn't given a ride out of the area, police said. The customer refused and Phillips fled on foot. Officers located him a short distance away.

No weapons were used and no injuries were reported during the incident, police said.
