9 Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists
The National Merit Scholarship Program has selected nine students from Anne Arundel County Public Schools as finalists.
ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — Nine students from the Anne Arundel County Public School system were selected as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
A release issued by the school district lists students from Severna Park, Broadneck, Arundel, Crofton, and Meade high schools.
Some 50,000 students enter for the chance at the scholarship program, of which 16,000 are drawn into a pool of semifinalists.

Organizers filter the students based on their preliminary SAT scores or the program's qualifying test.
The 6,800 finalists, including the nine selected from the Anne Arundel County district, later go on to compete for the scholarship award.

Finalists will be showcased April 22 by the Board of Education.
