9-Year-Old Boy Dies in Ocean City Boat Accident

Two children fell from a boat near Ocean City, MD, and were hit by a propeller; one boy died, police said.

OCEAN CITY, MD — Two children who fell from a boat near Ocean City, Maryland, were hit by the craft’s propeller, and one youth died from the injuries Wednesday, according to Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police.

The children — ages 9 and 11 — were struck by the boat’s propeller, authorities said. The 9-year-old boy died from the injuries.

The accident happened before 3 p.m. in Sinepuxent Bay, said Candy Thomson, public information officer for the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

“They fell overboard and they were hit by a propeller,” Thomson told DelMarvaNow.

The 11-year-old child received cuts from the mishap.

Authorities have not released information about where the victims are from or what caused the children to fall from the boat.
