Active Shooter Drill Planned At J. Albert Adams Academy Dec. 6

The City of Annapolis will hold an active shooter drill on Thursday, Dec. 6, at J. Albert Adams Academy, police said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Residents near J. Albert Adams Academy on Clay Street in Annapolis may hear loud noises and see police officers swarm the area on Thursday, Dec. 6, when the city conducts an active shooter drill, officials warn. Annapolis residents who live near the academy grounds should be aware of the exercise and road closures tied to the exercise, authorities said.

The active assailant exercise will start at 4 p.m.; roads will be closed between 4 and 8 p.m. Clay Street will be closed at Rideout Street and Glenwood Street will be closed at Harwood Place. Only local traffic will be allowed onto Glenwood Street from Taylor Avenue. All local traffic to the closed area should enter from Glenwood Street, not Clay Street.

Residents should be aware that real life sights and sounds may be seen and heard along the periphery of the campus and a variety of emergency response vehicles will be in the area., according to a city news release.
