MD Woman To Serve Less Than 6 Months After Stealing Over $180K From Employers

CROFTON, MD — A 56-year-old woman from Anne Arundel County's Crofton area will serve out less than six months in prison after pleading guilty to two separate theft schemes that totaled $185,296.28.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced Wednesday that Carolyn Rae Aldridge was sentenced to 10 years for both cases, with all but 173 days suspended.

After Aldridge's release, she will be placed on supervised probation for five years and required to pay a total of $173,004.43 in restitution to one of two former employers impacted by the schemes.

Aldridge pleaded guilty in March to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from employers American Builders Corporation, Inc. and Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund. She was initially indicted by an Anne Arundel County jury back in June 2025.

At ABC Builders, she worked as an office manager and later as an associate in MAIF’s fiscal department.

Investigators determined that between August 2017 and January 2021, she stole 96 checks from ABC Builders that amounted to $173,004.43. The second scheme ran from January 2020 to February 2021 and involved the theft of 13 checks totaling $12,291.85.

All 109 checks were deposited into her personal bank account.

Officials said Aldridge paid back the more than $12,000 owed to MAIF during her sentencing hearing on Tuesday.
