ANNAPOLIS, MD — What qualities and priorities do you want your police chief to have? That's the question Annapolis officials are asking residents.
The City of Annapolis officially launched a community survey on Friday to collect feedback as authorities continue their search for the next police chief.
Residents have until July 24 to fill out the 10-question survey, which is also available in Spanish.
Some of the listed questions touch on what residents believe are the biggest public safety challenges and changes that should be implemented under the chief.

The survey's publication comes as the city is also hosting three community forums, the first of which was held on Thursday.
The next two sessions will be held on the following days:
Date: Wednesday, July 15, 2026
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Boys & Girls Club of Annapolis (121 S. Villa Ave.)
Date: Thursday, July 16, 2026
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: First Baptist Church of Annapolis (31 W. Washington St.)
"Information gathered through the survey and community engagement sessions will be analyzed together to identify common themes, shared priorities, and areas of consensus," reads an announcement by the city.
"This combined community input will help inform the candidate profile, interview process, and selection of the next police chief."
The Annapolis Police Department is currently operating under acting Police Chief Amy Miguez, who has held the post since the February dismissal of then-Chief Edward Jackson.
A new police chief isn't expected to be selected for months. Annapolis officials launched a search committee just last month.
