ANNAPOLIS, MD — A former K-9 handler with the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office was arrested in connection with an explosive device case in Annapolis, officials announced Wednesday.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said in a release that 51-year-old Micah Y. Sam, of Brandywine, was arrested in Prince George's County.
Sam's arrest marks the second in the case after Lee Scott Wygal Ralston, a 37-year-old man from Annapolis, was taken into custody and charged with more than 60 felony offenses for manufacturing and possessing destructive devices.

Investigators said evidence showed Sam provided Ralston with not only explosive materials but also information and technical guidance for the construction of the devices.

Court records show Sam was held without bond, and that a bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday. He is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 30.
Authorities first announced charges in the case in April, when Ralston was arrested and hit with 32 counts of manufacturing destructive devices and another 32 counts for possession of destructive devices.
A search of Ralston's home on the 1200 block of Blackwalnut Lane returned "a significant number of suspected explosive devices and related materials," according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. "The devices varied in size and composition."
The agency detailed that the investigation was also linked to a separate case by the Maryland Natural Resources Police, which was investigating reports of illegal deer hunting that occurred from the roadway at night.
An investigation into the case remains ongoing.
