Annapolis Brewery Moves Production To New Site

After five years, Forward Brewery says it's moving brewing operations to Millersville to ease storage and production challenges.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Forward Brewery is moving its production out of Annapolis and into a larger space after working the last five years in what it described as a two-car garage area.

In a Monday newsletter update, the brewery said it was setting up shop at a new location in Millersville that would be shared with Oliver Brewing Co.

"This new space not only comes with more space but eases our production substantially," the notice reads.

"We'll have plenty of cold storage. We'll have a faster canning lane. Barrel aging is more possible now. We'll be able to keep brewing all the beer for Forward there and distribute a little more, too."

The transition is not complete yet, however. Forward said it is "waiting on final water hookups" at the new site before brewing can get underway.

Officials are anticipating an opening date sometime next month.

But, shifting operations will not mean the former Annapolis site will permanently close.

Forward Brewery said in its announcement that the company is looking to build the space out with more seating, install a second set of taps, and establish a small brewing system for limited batches twice a month.

"We are still waiting on our building permit, but the City has everything they need. We're hoping we might get the permit to start setting up our space as soon as next week," the newsletter reads.

The brewery's Annapolis location can be found at 418 Fourth Street.
