Annapolis Crime Report: Teen Shot in Face at St. John's College
Annapolis Police warn residents about burglars posing as utility workers and counterfeit money. Next Neighborhood Watch meeting is Dec. 9.

In the last 72 hours Annapolis Police officers responded to 340 calls for service and arrested 27 people.

Assault – Forest Dr near Spa Rd – 11/21 at 7:55pm: The adult male victim called the police to report that Kuwan Majors, 23, of Annapolis was following him in a vehicle and pointing and firing a handgun at him. The victim knew Majors previous to this incident. Officers located Majors driving a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Officers found a realistic looking black BB gun under the driver’s seat. Majors was charged with two counts of first degree and one count of second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and discharging a firearm in the city. Majors posted $75,000 bond and was released from the Jennifer Road Detention Center.

Stolen and Recovered Vehicle – 1400 block of Corey La – 11/21 from 7:45pm to 8:45pm: A 2010 Ford Escape was stolen when it was left unlocked with the key in the center console. On 11/22 at 9:30pm officers saw the vehicle in the 1200 block of Marda La. The two occupants fled the vehicle and were caught by officers. A 17 year old male and a 16 year old male, both from Annapolis were arrested and charged on juvenile citations. Both juveniles were turned over to their guardians. The key to the vehicle was found in the 17 year old’s pocket. A Garmin GPS unit, Apple MacBook Pro, and Apple iPod Nano were stolen from the vehicle and not recovered.
Theft – 100 block of Hillsmere Dr – 11/13 at 8am to 11/18 at 9pm: Over $3,000 worth of Helly Hansen H2 Flow jackets, Helly Hansen Active Flow base layer top and pants, Gill Crew jackets, and Loki jackets were shoplifted from the business.
Theft of Package – 1400 block of Huntingwood Rd – 11/20 from 12:48pm to 5pm: A package containing a Cutter and Buck women’s jacket was stolen from outside the front door after it was delivered by UPS.
Shooting – Unit block of College Av – 11/23 at 12:13am: A 17-year-old female from Annapolis was shot in the face after attending a non-college related private function at the Hodson Boat House on the grounds of St. John’s College. The party ended at midnight and the victim was on the fields near the Boat House when shots were fired. The victim ran toward St. Johns St and then realized she’d been shot. She was taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries. If you have any information about this shooting, please contact Det. Burglary – 600 block of Tuckahoe Creek Ct – 11/21 at 2pm to 11/23 at 9am: A vacant home was entered by forcing open the front door. Nothing was stolen from the home, but some property was damaged.
Neighborhood Watch Meeting
The next Neighborhood Watch meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 9 from 6:30pm to 8pm at Annapolis Police Headquarters, 199 Taylor Avenue. This meeting’s topic will be “The Year in Review”. We will be highlighting the good, the bad, and the stupid crime highlights from 2014. Everything from homicides to half-marathons, we’ll cover it all. Food will be served so please RSVP to Cpl. Burglaries
In the past few days there have been three burglaries to homes in Annapolis. In two cases entry to the home was gained by forcing or breaking a window. In one case the home was unlocked. Please make sure to lock your doors and windows and report any unusual activity in your neighborhood by calling 410-268-4141 or 9-1-1 in an emergency. The burglaries appear to be occurring in the early evening hours from 3pm to 10pm. Anne Arundel County Police Department has received reports of deception burglaries where the criminal poses as a utility worker who tries to gain entrance to your home. Do not allow these people into your home. Ask them to remain outside and immediately dial 9-1-1.
Counterfeit Money
In the past several weeks several businesses in Annapolis have reported receiving counterfeit 20 and 50 dollar bills. If you suspect someone is giving you counterfeit money call 410-268-4141 or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
