Annapolis Driver Killed in Head-On Crownsville Crash
An Annapolis man who police say was driving aggressively died after he slammed head-on into a car in Crownsville.

CROWNSVILLE, MD — An Annapolis man whom witnesses and police describe as driving aggressively and passing other vehicles where it was prohibited died Tuesday after his pickup truck slammed head-on into a vehicle on Generals Highway in Crownsville, authorities say. The driver killed, who officials say was primarily at fault in the crash, has been identified Francisco Rauda Aguilar, 48, of Rosecrest Drive in Annapolis.
The collision happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Generals Highway near Dunton Road in Crownsville, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Aguilar was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra owned by Underwood and Associates of Annapolis.
Investigators say Aguilar had been driving aggressively since turning from Old Generals Highway and was southbound on Generals Highway, repeatedly passing slower cars against the double yellow line. A Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Vanessa A. Williams, 54, of Baltimore, had pulled all the way to the right shoulder in an attempt to avoid Aguilar's pickup, police say.

But, the Toyota truck was in Williams' lane when the vehicles struck head-on in the northbound shoulder, officials say.
Aguilar was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. Williams was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma with serious injuries; she was listed in serious but stable condition Tuesday night.

Police say the primary cause of the crash was Aguilar’s failure to remain right of center and passing where prohibited by pavement striping.
It is unknown whether alcohol or drug use was a factor in the deadly crash, police say.
