An Annapolis man died this week, a year after he was shot, police say. A suspect is in custody.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Almost a year after he was shot, an Annapolis man has died from his injuries, and a suspect is in custody, Annapolis Police said Saturday. Eric Offutt, 19, died on Thursday; he was seriously wounded on Nov. 5, 2016.

Police said Offutt was shot in the 1000 block of Monroe Street and treated at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Detectives were notified Friday that Offutt had died.

A person of interest in this case is currently incarcerated and not a threat to public safety, said police, who did not identify the suspected shooter.
