Annapolis Pedestrian Flown To Shock Trauma After Being Hit By Car

A SUV struck a pedestrian in Parole Thursday afternoon. A medeveac helicopter flew the critically injured man to a Baltimore hospital.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A SUV struck a pedestrian in Parole Thursday afternoon, leaving the walker in critical condition, fire officials say. Given the victim's "possibly life-threatening injuries," medics flew him to a shock trauma center.

The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Street and Parole Street, the Annapolis Fire Department said. The adult male victim is about 35.

Paramedics drove the man to nearby Annapolis Middle School, where a helicopter picked him up. The Maryland State Police Aviation Command chopper flew the pedestrian to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The driver was uninjured and refused medical attention. The accident and ensuing investigation closed the inbound portion of West Street between Gibralter Avenue and Lee Street.
