Annapolis Police At Elementary School After Nearby Shooting
Annapolis Police officers were on hand as students left an elementary school Wednesday afternoon following a shooting in the neighborhood.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — As a precaution, Annapolis Police officers were on hand as students left an elementary school Wednesday afternoon following a shooting in the neighborhood. A man was shot about 2:15 p.m. in the unit block of Bens Drive and taken to an area hospital for treatment, authorities said.
A suspected gunman was seen running away from Bens Drive toward Victor Parkway. Officers went to Georgetown East Elementary School, 111 Dogwood Road, to alert school officials to the shooting and remained at the school through the end of the school day, police said in a news release.
Investigators believe the shooting took place outside on Bens Drive. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact detectives at 410-260-3439.
