Annapolis Residents Sound Off on Snowplowing

ANNAPOLIS, MD—As of 8 a.m. Sunday the blizzard warning for Maryland has been lifted. Over the weekend, Winter Storm Jonas brought over two feet of snow to towns across Anne Arundel County.
Annapolis Mayor Michael Pantelides announced a Level 3 Snow Emergency at 10 a.m. Saturday in Annapolis, which prohibits all vehicles from city streets except snow equipment, emergency vehicles or others authorized by the mayor.

The travel ban on Annapolis streets was lifted at 3 p.m. Sunday, but city leaders ask residents to stay off the roads if possible.

- “Other than the mound of snow outside my driveway, I am happy that the fire department would be able to get a reasonable distance from my house!! I am thankful for every essential personnel that braved these conditions to do what they could!! And, I have Power!!!!”

- “Very grateful to f d for plowing our small dead end side street. I didn’t expect it so soon!”
- “Plow came through last night, I guess to make a path to the fire hydrant in our yard on the street corner. Would have bee fine except he piled all the snow at the end of our driveway.”
- “Yep. Williams Dr has been open all along as have the main roads in Annapolis. Kudos to DPW”
- “No plowing in St Margarets.”
- “We are fortunate to live on an emergency evacuation route so we have been clean since the start of the storm. I understand the storm status will be downgraded to level 2 at 3 PM today!”
- “Yes very grateful for the plowing, especially for my elderly neighbor who is on dialysis and needs to get out!”
- “Yes!!! The last time we got alot of snow our road was not plowed for days. When we woke up our street was already plowed! We are so Thankful.”
- “What plowing? But not worried- I don’t have to go anywhere tomorrow!”
- “I was able to make it to Home Depot at 10 am today. Roads are passable thanks to the city of Annapolis job well done. BTW they are out of snow ploughs”
- “No snow plows on McKinley as of yet......Firefighters came through to dig out the hydrants but on foot.....and said to us “looks like you all will be stuck for awhile””
- “Big joke! Hasn’t even been touched but most of the other roads in our community have! Every time!”
- “Yes, thanks to all the navy people. They did a great job in down town, and thanks to the fire dep and cops who were around DT and care about us. Thanks Annapolis ppl are cool.”
