Anne Arundel Co. Libraries CEO To Retire
Charles "Skip" Auld will retire from his post as CEO of the Anne Arundel County Public Libraries in 2027.
ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — Charles "Skip" Auld is retiring from his post as CEO of the Anne Arundel County Public Libraries, officials announced Wednesday.
Auld, who has served as CEO since 2010, will retire Feb. 1, 2027.
“Skip Auld turned Anne Arundel County Public Libraries into community gathering places, social service centers, teen sanctuaries, early childhood education centers and welcoming portals to knowledge of every kind,” County Executive Steuart Pittman said in a release.

“His passion for the institution and the people who work in it is persistent and pervasive. He will be a hard act to follow.”
Auld began his career as a clerk-typist at Duke University. At the AACPL, he was championed as a leader in expanding the system's programming and digital resources while ensuring libraries remained a welcoming space for the community.

A nationwide search for the next CEO will be led by the June Garcia LLC firm, which was picked by the AACPL Board of Trustees.
