Anne Arundel Co. Schools, County Offices Make Snow Decision For Jan. 26
The winter storm forced Anne Arundel County schools to make a schedule decision for Monday. Trash pickup and other services also affected.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — All Anne Arundel County Public Schools buildings will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, due to the snowstorm and adverse travel conditions.
A Code Red is in effect for employees.
Unit III facilities, operations, and maintenance personnel must follow the terms of their negotiated agreement and report as required. Additional guidance regarding reporting requirements will be communicated to impacted employees.

County Offices, Libraries, Trash Service Affected
Also, all Anne Arundel County government buildings and offices will be closed to the public on Monday, Jan. 26. Telework policies are in effect and telework-eligible employees should work remotely. Emergency and essential employees must report for work at their usual times.

Curbside collection will not occur on Monday and will be collected on Tuesday. Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday, weather permitting.
All libraries and senior activity centers will also be closed. Lunch will not be served at any senior activity center or congregate site. Senior Center Plus is canceled as well. Transportation to senior activity centers will not occur.
Residents are strongly advised to avoid travel, especially until the National Weather Service's winter storm warning expires at 4 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. The County Executive’s declaration of a civil emergency ensures the county has the necessary resources to respond effectively to conditions throughout the duration of the storm.

Sleet fell across Maryland Sunday after 4 to 6 inches of snow covered much of the Baltimore region, causing dangerous travel conditions. A winter storm warning remains in place across all of Maryland through 4 a.m. Monday.
On a Code Red day, all Anne Arundel County Public schools, school offices, and central offices are closed due to inclement weather.
Evening high school and alternative programs are canceled when AACPS is closed due to inclement weather. After-school and evening activities at schools — including practices, performances, clubs, and athletic events — are canceled.
Changes to school schedules caused by inclement weather or other emergency conditions are announced:
- On the AACPS Alerts automated telephone, email, and text message notification system. Email and text messages are sent as soon as possible after decisions are made. Phone calls on the same morning of a schedule alteration are sent beginning at 5:30 a.m. When decisions are made the night before a school day, calls are sent as soon as possible.
- On the free AACPS mobile app (available in Apple and Google Play stores)
- On this website Alert Banner (pop-up activated for urgent messages)
- On AACPS' social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter) as well as on all school-specific web pages
- On major area radio and television stations
