Anne Arundel Schools Delay Jan 5 Start, Warn Of Cold
BREAKING: Anne Arundel County Public Schools officials have announced plans for Friday, Jan. 5.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Bundle up folks, because schools will be open on Friday, Jan. 5, although they will start two hours late, say Anne Arundel County Public Schools officials. Due to the forecast for extreme conditions that could harm walkers and students at bus stops, as well as to allow time for facilities personnel and bus contractors to address any weather-related issues, all Anne Arundel County Public Schools will have a delayed opening.
There will be no morning half-day pre-kindergarten or ECI classes. Students in full-day pre-kindergarten classes will have class, and should report to school two hours later than normal, the district said Thursday night. Parents, students, and employees are urged to dress appropriately for the frigid conditions, exercise caution, and allow additional time for travel to and from schools and work locations tomorrow morning.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools will continue to work on and monitor road and school lot conditions throughout the night and early Friday morning. If a change from the two-hour late start is warranted, an updated message will be sent on Friday morning, spokesman Bob Mosier said.
