Man Identified Who Died In Standoff With FBI, Anne Arundel Police
Authorities have identified a man who died after a standoff in Linthicum when he traded shots with an FBI team and Anne Arundel Police.

LINTHICUM, MD — Authorities on Tuesday released the name of a man who died Friday night following a four-hour standoff in Linthicum when he traded gunshots with an FBI team and Anne Arundel County Police. John Lowell Dollen, 55, died, and investigators are still trying to determine who fired the fatal shot.
The barricade began just after 2 pm. in the 1200 block of Gloria Avenue when police received a family dispute call with a report that a gunshot was fired. Anne Arundel officers who responded were confronted on the screened-in porch by an extremely agitated man — now identified as Dollen — who was armed with a gun. Anne Arundel Police say Dollen refused to drop the weapon and threatened officers and to harm himself. Police negotiators were unable to resolved the standoff and a barricade was called, according to a police report.
The county's SWAT team was busy on a Secret Service assignment, so the FBI's Baltimore tactical team responded to the scene.

The Baltimore Sun reports Dollen came out of the house, walked to the driveway, and was fatally struck in an exchange of gunfire with local police and the FBI.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

So far, investigators do not know if an Anne Arundel County Police officer or an FBI agent fired the fatal shots or if shots fired by both agencies struck the man.
The standoff ended shortly before 5 p.m. Police Sgt. Jacklyn Davis told the Sun one person was inside the house when the shooting began. That person was not threatened and managed to flee to safety.
