Attempted Murder Charge Filed In Annapolis Shooting

Police have charged an Annapolis man with attempted murder in a June shooting; a Glen Burnie man is charged with a handgun violation.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Police have charged an Annapolis man with attempted murder in a June shooting, while a Glen Burnie man with the accused gunman when he was arrested this week is charged with a handgun violation, according to Annapolis Police.

A man was shot outside a building on Edgewood Avenue between West Street and McGuckian Street about 12:30 a.m. on June 30. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment; police have not released his name or his medical condition. Detectives believe the shooting occurred outside a social event being held in the 1800 block of West Street.

Since the shooting, police identified Ronreques Johnson, 24, of Annapolis as the suspected gunman. An arrest warrant was issued charging Johnson with attempted first-degree murder and six other charges; he was arrested on Aug. 3 in Glen Burnie.

Johnson is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond, police said.

At the time Johnson was arrested he was in a vehicle with Kendall Brown Jr., 25, of Glen Burnie, who had a handgun in his possession when officers stopped him. Brown was arrested and charged by Anne Arundel County Police with possession of a handgun and two other related charges.

Brown was released from the Jennifer Road Detention Center after posting $2,500 bond.
