ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis announced Tuesday that it mailed a ballot to every registered voter in the city. That officially opened the general election, which includes city council and mayoral races.

This is the first general election in which Annapolis sent ballots to all voters. A lawsuit challenged this decision, but a court rejected the appeal and let the city mail its ballots.

Residents can mail their completed ballots back to the indicated address. Officials will count every ballot that is postmarked by election day, which is on Nov. 2.

Residents who prefer to vote in person should ignore the ballot mailed to them. They must vote at their assigned precinct on election day between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. The polls are at the same locations as the drop boxes listed above.
