Bay Weekly Newspaper Owners To End Publication

ANNAPOLIS, MD — In a column penned by editor and publisher Sandra Olivetti Martin, she announces that the Bay Weekly will be coming to an end. Martin wrote that "at the end of this year, Bay Weekly will retire."

"We’ve had a great run, told a wealth of tales, made a lifetime of friends and have a team that makes this one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever faced. We have hopes of finding a new owner to carry on the legacy of Bay Weekly. We’ve engaged a media broker in that effort, and who can say, maybe you know of someone who would like to make Bay Weekly their own … In the meantime, we will spend the next three months doing what we’ve always done — as well as or better than ever," Martin wrote.

According to Martin, the newspaper has 60,000 weekly readers. It’s delivered to 500-plus locations from Severna Park through Annapolis and Southern Anne Arundel County and to all of Calvert County.

The paper was launched in 1993 by Martin, her son and general manager Alex Knoll, and Martin's husband Bill Lambrecht. It originally was called New Bay Times, then became New Bay Times Weekly, then eventually Bay Weekly.
