• Machine Malfunction Sparks Fire At Annapolis Business: Reports (patch.com) — Annapolis residents may notice Zips Cleaners on West Street temporarily closed after a malfunctioning dryer sparked a small fire and blew off its door Saturday morning. Customers and staff quickly extinguished the flames before Annapolis and Anne Arundel firefighters arrived, and officials reported no injuries or building damage while utilities remain shut off pending further checks.
   

• Rotary Club of Annapolis Opens Crab Feast Grant Applications for Local Nonprofits (eyeonannapolis.net) — Local nonprofits serving Annapolis and Anne Arundel County can now apply for Rotary Club of Annapolis Crab Feast grants of up to $4,000, funded by this year's feast. Eligible organizations in specific area ZIP codes must apply online by 5 p.m. Thursday, October 1, with awards supporting programs that improve life for local individuals and families.
