Body Found Floating In Brewers Creek Near Annapolis

A body was found by paddle-boaters in a creek near Annapolis, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Authorities have released the name of an elderly man whose body was discovered in Brewers Creek, a tributary of the Severn River, Wednesday night. According to Maryland Natural Resources Police, paddle boaters found Roland Davies Jr., 85, of Sherwood Forest, in the water.

No foul play is suspected in Davies' death, say Natural Resources Police. An autopsy was performed Thursday morning to determine a cause of death; results have not been released.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department units, including the Special Operations Dive Rescue Team, were dispatched about 5:40 p.m. to the 1500 block of Keswick Place, after a 911 caller reported a body floating in the creek.

Maryland Natural Resources Police arrived and Fire Department personnel assisted them in the recovery of the male victim. A forensic investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted in the investigation.

With more than 533 miles of coastline, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Special Operations Dive Rescue Team, as well as the Marine Division, work closely with the Maryland Natural Resources Police on incidents involving open water.
