Make it a pizza, well done
Need and idea for those nights when you just don't feel like sweating it out over the stove? One of the best places for a laid-back meal in Annapolis had to be Rocco's Pizza.

Friday night rolls around in our household and the great debate is on. Where to eat, where to eat... It is usually our one (or first of two) nights we can eat out during the week. Sometimes we feel fancy, and sometimes we just want a pitcher of beer and some good old fashioned pizza. There are plenty of places in Annapolis to satisfy both of these cravings, and last weekend it was the latter we had an itch for.
Pizza and beer on a Friday night could be one of the best combinations, ever. You are tired from the week. Your boss was on your case. The kids were late to school everyday. You don't want to have leftover meatloaf for the third night in a row, and you also don't want to get all dressed up and wait an hour to eat. So pizza it is.
Our favorite go-to pizza place on a night like this is Rocco's Pizza. Located off of Bay Ridge Road, this place is a little outside of DTA, but not far at all, and well worth the drive. The inside is nothing to write home about, but it doesn't need to be. It is a classic pizza place and should be judged on one thing only, the quality of the pie.

Rocco's has over 20 topping choices, and I will admit I tend to be one of those people who would have 10 toppings on their pizza if they could. This particular night we went with spinach, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and grilled chicken. In my heart of hearts I also wanted tomatoes and artichokes, but I resisted. Four toppings was good enough.
Another thing to know about me and pizza is that I love crispy and usually thin crust. You know that pizza you get, and you take your first bite and the crust is flimsy and soggy from the sauce? I find nothing worse than that. Well, there are obviously worse things than flimsy pizza, but you get my drift. Due to this preference, we always ask for our pizza from Rocco's to be "well done". Don't worry, our pizza never comes out burned or blackened. Actually this past visit it was dead on and delicious.

Rocco's also has 3-4 beers on tap and sells pitchers, a Friday must. I will be honest when I say I haven't had anything else on their menu before, but I have only gone when I am in the mood for hot, cheesy, crispy pizza.
I also apologize for the lack of pictures associated with this post. I literally dove head first into this pizza when we got it and all I have to show for it is this one pizza-less picture.
But that should be an indication to how good this pizza is, and no I did not eat that entire thing myself. Not that I wouldn't have...
