Burger Chain 'CaliBurger' To Open In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD — After a successful first year in Columbia, Md., a burger chain called CaliBurger is expanding to the Annapolis Harbour Center and will open by the end of this month, according to a news release.

CaliBurger is a 21st century revival of the classic California burger joint. Their products feature the highest quality beef, buns baked fresh, top-grade chicken, hand-selected vegetables, sauces made in house and hand-mixed shakes.

Patrons can order various sandwiches like the Chipotle BBQ Chicken Sandwich, with lemon and herb marinated chicken breast, bacon and house made Chipotle BBQ sauce, or the Cali Double with two all-beef patties. CaliBurger also serves Cali Style Fries, seasoned fries smothered in melted real American cheese, grilled sweet onions and their Signature Sauce.

"We could not be more excited to bring CaliBurger to the great city of Annapolis," local master franchise partner Sumeet Goel said in a statement. "It is such a beautiful city and has an amazing community that we are excited to serve."

Goel already has a strong presence in the Annapolis community with his partner, Dr. Kirti Malhotra, who works at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. The duo also owns the Baja Fresh restaurants in Annapolis and Arundel Mills, and are both longtime residents of Anne Arundel County, Goel said.

The pair plans to raise money to pay off all cafeteria debt in Anne Arundel County. They're currently aiming to raise $20,000 by giving a portion of CaliBurger's sales to the program, as well as collecting money in store and starting a Go Fund Me page. If they raise more than needed, they plan to sponsor some food at camps for children in the area, Goel told Patch.

The Annapolis location will be CaliBurger's seventh North American installment, and the business expects to have 50 restaurants worldwide by the end of 2017. Check it out at 2478 Solomons Island Rd.
